About Cheryl Olivier

I discovered osteopathy as a new mum when I injured myself taking a pushchair out of my car. My stiff and painful neck made it difficult for me to lift and manage my young baby. Following a friend’s recommendation, I sought help from an osteopath and I left the treatment with a neck that moved again, mostly pain-free!

This experience of osteopathy, and a fascination with how the body functions and is able to heal, created the impetus for me to study osteopathy so that I could help others regain and maintain wellness as I once had.

I enjoy the variety of treating all ages, from heads to toes. I aim to help people achieve health goals that are meaningful to them: be it being able to bend forward to put your shoes on again after a back injury, or giving your best performance on the sports field. I have a particular interest in complex, long-standing issues. Helping people move from pain towards a more comfortable, healthier version of themselves is what makes my work so rewarding. I love what I do!

I volunteer at The Osteopathic Children’s Foundation which runs a monthly clinic in Hamilton to provide free osteopathic care for babies and children whose families may otherwise be unable to afford osteopathic care.

I graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) degree, followed by a Masters in Osteopathy, achieved with honours. I have additionally completed post-graduate training with the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation, both here in New Zealand and Australia. I trained and worked as a yoga instructor for a number of years prior to studying osteopathy and draw on this experience to offer clients self-management tools to support treatment gains.

My partner and I have two adult daughters. I enjoy travelling and sunny days will find me in the garden.
